JEWISH FEDERATION PRESENTS ISRAEL EXPO 2010
Free Community Event on May 2nd Highlights the Environment
Jewish Federation presents Israel Expo 2010: Blue, White…and Green at the Samueli Jewish Campus in Irvine on Sunday, May 2, 2010 from 1:00 to 6:00pm. The event is free and open to the entire community. Over 6,000 participants are expected.
“It’s a fabulous free afternoon for the whole family,” said Israel Expo Chairman, Gordon Fishman, M.D. “We’ve got top entertainment, delicious food, great shopping, camel rides, games for the kids – something for everyone!” Israel Expo also features art exhibits and film screenings, and dozens of vendor booths with Israeli fine art, gifts, Judaica, fashion, jewelry, books, music, cosmetics, accessories and more.
This year, Israel Expo “goes green”. Main attractions are an electric and hybrid vehicle show, featuring Tesla, Segway and Mercedes-Benz, and a Green Pavilion showcasing services, programs and products for a healthier planet. A healing and rhythm tent with yoga, massage and drum circles; a Green Israel Info Center; and Greenotopia activities for children round out the environmental theme.
The first 1,500 participants who visit the Federation booth and recycle a special flyer (given at the Expo entrance) will receive a reusable shopping bag and a chance to win a free El Al airline ticket to Israel.
The Jewish Rock & Roll Party, featuring Dan Nichols & Eighteen and Mikey Pauker is Expo’s musical extravaganza. Additional entertainment includes the Kolot Band from Israel; David & The High Spirit; Israeli Dancing with Yoni Carr; and The Fishman Family All-Community Children’s Choir featuring hundreds of young singers from Jewish congregations. Stage MCs are members of Orange County Hillel, the Jewish college campus organization.
The Samueli Jewish Campus is located at 1 Federation Way in Irvine (near Turtle Ridge and Bonita Canyon). Free parking is available at Mariners Church and shuttle buses to the Expo are provided. Free parking for people with disabilities is located at the Tarbut v’Torah Lower School, and paid VIP parking for $8 is at the Tarbut v’Torah Upper School.
